Weekly Changes – 27/02/2023
A quieter week. Note that all sites using the xrdp remote desktop software should test the latest version before it becomes standard. Here are the details of the significant changes…
XRDP
The latest versions of the xrdp (0.9.21) and xorgxrdp (0.9.19) packages are now available for testing on Ubuntu. For details of all the changes, see the release notes for xrdp and xorgxrdp. We are planning to make these the default versions in the stable release next week, note that the packages will only be upgraded at boot time. We recommend that all sites using the xrdp remote desktop software test the latest version before it becomes standard to ensure nothing breaks.
Ubuntu 22.04
The apt configuration defaults for the upstream repository have been tweaked. For now, the default site is http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/
as we do not yet have a local mirror. The sites repository key is now optional since it is not required when using the upstream repository.
Work has begun on generating an installer ISO for Jammy, at this stage it is still missing a number of important software packages.
More of the core LCFG components have been updated to support the new platform, there are no functional changes.
lustre filesystem
Packages are now available for using the lustre filesystem on Ubuntu. To add them into an LCFG profile, use the new ed/options/lustre-client.h
and ed/options/lustre-server.h
headers .
The DICE headers have been refactored to use these headers. There is also a new dice/options/lustre-build-deps.h
header which can be used on a desktop to ensure all the necessary dev packages are available for building the lustre kernel module packages.
locales
DICE Ubuntu machines now support a much wider range of non-English locales.
Software
There are some new software options available for Ubuntu:
LCFG_OPTIONS_FENCE_AGENTS
– support software for lustreLCFG_OPTIONS_RESOURCE_AGENTS
– support software for lustre, pacemakerLCFG_OPTIONS_SNMP
– Simple Network Management Protocol applications
Some churn also occurred due to a number of options being updated to depend on the new LCFG_OPTIONS_SNMP
option.
