Weekly Changes – 07/06/2021

A very quiet week, most notable are new hardware support and a fix for Ubuntu package dependencies. Here are the full details…

HP EliteDesk 800 G6

There are new hardware headers – dice/hw/hp_elitedesk800g6.h and lcfg/hw/hp_elitedesk800g6.h – for the HP EliteDesk 800 G6. This is the latest SelectPC standard desktop model. Only the Small Form Factor version (SFF) has been tested but previous experience suggests this header is likely to work fine with other variants. So far this has only been tested with Ubuntu Focal using UEFI boot.

The header assumes that the machine has an nvme-based SSD for the root disk so it is not necessary to include any additional headers for that unlike the previous G5 model.

DICE Managed Laptop/Desktop

For DICE managed laptops and desktops (those running Windows MDP) there are now have sensible default settings for the dhclient.cluster and dhclient.hostname resources. This means it is no longer necessary to explicitly specify them in the LCFG profiles for each individual machine.

Ubuntu package dependencies

The release last week introduced a dependency issue on the Ubuntu platform for external sites. This has been fixed by removing the unnecessary ubuntu-minimal package. That is an empty package used for dependencies only so its removal shouldn’t cause any problems.
