Weekly Changes – 17/05/2021

A fairly quiet week, other than the usual security updates there is little change for sites outside of Informatics. Here are the details…

Dell BOSS cards

Support has been added to both SL7 and Ubuntu for managing the Dell Boot Optimized Storage Solution (BOSS) cards using the mvcli utility. To add this to a server include the LCFG header dice/options/raid_boss_s1.h (or lcfg/options/raid_boss_s1.h outside of Informatics).

Megacli on Ubuntu

The LCFG header lcfg/options/raid_megaraid.h which provides megacli has been updated to include the necessary ncurses dependency on Ubuntu.

LCFG file component

The LCFG file component support for actions/triggers has been improved. Version 1.6.0 supports passing the path to the file which just changed (and thus triggered the action) into the action command itself. This is done using a special <%file%> template substitution.

Tartarus clientreport

The clientreport for DICE machines has gained support for authenticating using an alternate Kerberos keytab and principle. To help identify the version of the clientreport script being run it now also provides a new self section for the report, currently that only contains the version information.

rmirror on DICE

The rmirror service on DICE has gained support for password authentication. This makes the backup process more secure, contact the Services Unit if you spot any problems, there might be some fall out regarding nagios monitoring of the backup modules.

XRDP and SSH service ACLs

The ACLs for the general access SSH and XRDP services have been changed to avoid using the people primary group. This will have an impact on a small number of users who are already into the grace period for their account.
