Media Team Explores Innovations at KitPlus Show in Glasgow
We’re excited to share our recent experience at the KitPlus Show in Glasgow, a key event in the UK broadcast industry that brings together leading manufacturers, distributors, and dealers of professional video, AV, and media technology. The show is a fantastic hub for innovation, engagement, and connection, providing free access to industry professionals and the latest equipment and services.
During the show, we were treated to a series of demonstrations showcasing the latest advancements in video production. One standout setup was a virtual production system using an LED wall combined with a motion-tracking camera. This setup was driven by Unlreal Engine, a real time 3D creation tool. Virtual sets were displayed on the video wall and changed dynamically as the camera moved. An actor/presenter can then be positioned in between the wall and camera to create a real time 3D environment.
We also attended a panel featuring LTW’s Stephen Dishon alongside colleagues from other universities discussing AV over IP technology. The conversation opened up interesting discussions about the flexibility and challenges of implementing this technology in modern teaching and learning environments.
Among other presentations, one particularly engaging session was presented by Keith Eccles, who discussed his experience documenting the story of an autistic teenager searching for Bigfoot in Southern England. This session not only highlighted unique content but also underscored the power of media to tell diverse and compelling human stories.
Additionally, we had the opportunity to get hands-on with the latest camera technologies, which has always been a vital aspect of staying current with emerging trends in our field. Networking and engaging directly with suppliers and manufacturers provided us with invaluable insights and networking opportunities, which will undoubtedly aid our future collaborations and acquisitions.
Overall, our visit to the KitPlus Show was immensely productive. Not only did we leave with new knowledge and inspirations for our upcoming projects, but we also forged valuable industry connections.
