HELLO!
This October 2020 – Kirstie and I ( sadly Jenny could not start with us due to illness) – began our NC500 Challenge. As our email on our return detailed – our challenge was sadly postponed after 2 days in – due to extreme adverse weather conditions and the closing in of Covid-19 government restrictions (where were we going to eat most importantly!?) This was an extremely hard decision and was not made lightly.
The challenge is as far away from over as it could be – we cannot wait to get back on the NC500 – in early Spring 2021. With the full team – Kirstie, Jenny and I! We will be going from the very start again – who wouldn’t with those landscapes? Even tackling the Bealach Na Ba a second time around – a marvel in itself!
In the coming blog posts….
- I am going to tell you about one of our of training rides out – pre NC500 – a chunky 112 mile loop from Edinburgh to Melrose – taking us through the beautiful Gifford, up through the Lammermuirs – to Melrose and then looping back to Edinburgh through Innerleithan and the steep Lammermuirs again!
- I am going to tell you about those 2 days on the NC500 – hard times and all. Not only so you can see what we encountered and also conquered – but hopefully to give you an insight in to why we cannot wait to get back on that road.
We cannot express enough the incredible support we have received – smashing our fundraising target 3 TIMES! Which is just unbelieveable. Thank you to every single person who has donated and shared our story.
Our donation page remains open until we complete this challenge – please see info below on the charity and our fundraising page – any sharing is much apprecaited 🙂
In support of the incredible Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMHS) we will be cycling the North Coast 500 (Mark Beaumont’s Bike packing route)
Now more than ever our chosen charity deserves a huge amount of recognition and support – so please join us in supporting them and creating awareness.
Through cycling – we adventurous three have benefitted massively from the positive impacts on our physical health – but the benefits on our mental health cannot be emphasized enough.
We want to promote SAMHS and encourage as many people as possible to spread awareness for this amazing charity. You can read more about the incredible work they do on their website – https://www.samh.org.uk/
We have set up a Just Giving donations page for this challenge – where 100% of the funds raised go directly to SAMHS.
Please see the link below to donate and read our story! Every donation – no matter the size – makes a difference! Sharing the link as far and wide as possible would be much appreciated.
We have been lucky enough to all have worked and met within the WTCRF and have formed an intrepid trio who cannot wait to go on this challenging adventure.
Thank you for reading and say tuned for my next post!
Ana
You did great and I’m sure that with the right weather you’ll be able to complete the challenge 🙂
You did really well to stay out as long as you did! You will smash it next time. Twice over the Bealach … phew!
