Debate: This house (i.e. we) would enforce a circular economy
I was in team FOR of this debate, but before preparing for it I actually was against this theme. Before the debate, I thought it is nearly impossible to enforce a regulation since technical barriers are not that easy to be tackled and it’s strange to enforce people to all follow one restriction for the environment.
However my mind changed after preparation and the debate. When exchanging arguments with my classmates, I realized that enforce is not to force everyone to implement it immediately, but to put the circular economy plan into the rules and achieve it within a certain period of time. After all, human activities have greatly damaged the ecosystem, and the earth is at stake. It is only a matter of time before our ecosystem collapses if we don’t take a tougher approach and let people continue their current production methods for profit.
I was inspired by what my classmates said: The rule we made should be a button line. It guards the bottom line of human pollution, and makes the development of this planet sustainable so that we can survive.
