Debate: This house believes that we must fall in love with plastic again.

When I got this debate I immediately thought of the images of marine life entangled in plastic waste that shocked me many years ago. Those pictures made me realise how plastic is not only polluting the earth, but how badly it is harming other life on earth.  Therefore, despite the fact that the For side argues that the production of alternatives to plastic also causes a lot of pollution, I still believe that the production of degradable alternatives to plastic is necessary. We all recognise that the widespread use of plastic is due to its excellent characteristics: light, thin, waterproof and tough. But is it really impossible to find an alternative to it? Biodegradable materials have been developed and more scientific research is being focused on this area. “Biodegradable” is the most important feature that ensures that the plastic waste we produce is broken down like a natural recycling system and stops harming the planet.

In summary, I believe that if plastic is degradable, then we can continue to use the necessary plastic; conversely, we should strive to reduce our use of plastic.
