Borders are for Crossing – Collage Experimentation.

After doing a mind-map about the borders are for crossing project and figuring out the ways it interests me, I went for walk around my neighbourhood to take photos of the forest or greener areas to be able to use those images to show the outside as cold and gloomy and the inside as cozy and comforting. I then collaged the images together to create a distorted view of the forest and trees, using found imagery from home magazines to bring those two opposite feelings clashing together. I wanted to explore the idea of bringing the bedroom outside or brining the outside into the bedroom, crossing the borders of ‘your space’. I found these collages to work well in erasing the outline of a bedroom or emphasising the lack of it with the different scale of objects collaged into the foreground to background.
