Borders are for Crossing – Development of pillow photos from different locations.

Doing this development I wanted to focus on bringing the inside comfort from the bedroom outside to the stark and cold surroundings. I wanted to visually connate the boundaries we have in ‘our space’ and blur the lines between safety of your own four walls in comparison to the the vast outside. I think these photographs are successful in portraying how the elements affect our emotions and feelings when our own space is concerned by taking a simple object and altering how we feel when we look at it outside our space. The photos portrayed taking a simple comfort offered by a pillow and showing it in a way that made you feel cold and detached from that space/object. I developed these images over a series of locations that you wouldn’t normal associate with a pillow, while doing this I discovered that in the placements of the pillow in some spaces the connotations to homeless where strongly linked. I think it’s something I should look into through my research and connecting it into my development. As the box can be someone’s home just as much as a bedroom, both having four walls but completely different feelings.

I used your pillow. It has good quality. It is so soft & comfortable for sleeping.
