Generation Scotland is a volunteer led study. It aims to create more effective treatments, based on gene knowledge for the medical, social and economic benefit of Scotland and its people.

I’m Grant and I live on the Isle of Harris I’m a Development Officer, as well as a scallop diver and fisheries consultant. I also own a food van. Since lockdown began I largely feel the same. Obviously, I have concerns for the health of older relatives but I don’t feel hugely different, only more […]

I’m Rhoda, and I work as a Digital Consultant and crofter on the Isle of Tiree. One of my favourite things about Tiree is our 360 degree views of sky – the huge horizons, it’s so easy to breathe deeply. Since COVID-19 lockdown began, day to day life on a practical level hasn’t changed much, […]

I’m Janet and I live and work in Gairloch, Wester Ross, which is in the North-West Highlands of Scotland. My favourite thing about living in Gairloch is that there is plenty of space, fresh air and lots of great scenery. In my spare time, I like to go sailing, walking and do some gardening. Gairloch […]

I’m Drew and I’m a statistical analyst for Generation Scotland A lot has changed since the COVID-19 lockdown. I can’t go to the office, I can’t go to the gym or the pool, and I can’t go see a movie, or to the pub, or to a museum. For a long time we also avoided […]

I’m Louise and I’m the Research Support Officer for Generation Scotland. Lockdown has changed my day to day life a lot. Some changes are great, I have had a lot less commuting to do. My normal day includes a 90 minute commute each way on public transport, so it’s been really nice to get up […]

Hey, I’m Ali and I’m a Recruitment Coordinator for Generation Scotland.   I come from an arts background having worked at the National Theatre and the Royal Academy of Arts in London, but for me communicating and engaging with people is always at the heart of what I do. At the beginning of 2020 I […]

I’m Robin and I work as the Operations Manager for Generation Scotland. Lockdown has been a challenge but we have been making the most of it! Since lockdown began I’ve been staying at home as much as possible. I used to work in the office 4 days a week and I spent many weekends enjoying […]

Hi, I’m Rachel and work in communications and administration for Generation Scotland. When I first started my career, I never thought I would be working in population health research. I gained a degree in marine and freshwater biology and worked short contracts in marine science for two years. After some time I realised this wasn’t […]
