Sharing ABC Learning Design approaches far and wide

An instructional designer at UiT The Arctic University of Norway recently reached out to me, looking for information on running ABC Learning Design workshops fully online.

Hoping to run online workshops themselves, but not quite sure where to start, Andrea Watkins Perez asked if I was happy to arrange a meeting with her and her colleagues in Norway and Munich to share experience and advice on how best to approach it. They were particularly interested in how we run workshops online, the kinds of challenges we’ve faced, and how we promote and implement the ABC method at the University.

We met for an informal chat, which turned into an hour-long knowledge-sharing session, which was very useful and insightful. It was also interesting to hear about their involvement with EUGLOH – a European initiative focused on Global Health – which ‘leverages the collective strengths of nine partner universities to work towards a healthier, more resilient world’.

After the meeting, to help support them with their transition to online workshops, I shared our open licensed ABC resources (workshop presentation and pack of content development templates), and published our new ABC Learning Design Workshop Miro template, which we trialed for the Short Courses Platform – now available for the world to use!

It was great to chat to other teams and share common experiences, challenges and solutions, as well as to showcase how the ABC Learning Design method has developed over the years at the University.

I look forward to taking them up on their offer of collaborating in Norway and Munich one day!
