Are you planning on buying a real Christmas tree this year? For years now, I have bought my Christmas trees from Caring Christmas Trees, which is working to help end homelessness in Scotland. All profits from Caring Christmas Trees go to Bethany Christian Trust’s winter work.
Caring Christmas Trees are sustainably grown in West Lothian. According to Friends of the Earth, “locally grown real trees are the best option if you can get one”. Did you know that plastic trees can leave between two and ten times as much of a carbon footprint as a real tree?
Every tree I’ve had from Caring Christmas Trees has been beautiful, and hardly lost a needle. You order and pay for your tree in advance, and choose where to collect on a set date. You can collect from places like Ocean Terminal, Asda in Chesser, Portobello, Cameron Toll, Dunbar, Dunfermline. I see you can now order for delivery too. The trees are cut to order, so are much fresher than a lot of other places.
Every penny of profit goes towards funding projects tackling homelessness throughout the winter. When you collect the trees, this is managed by lovely volunteers, who let you choose from the trees of the height you’ve ordered, to get the right shape etc.
So why not buy from Caring Christmas Trees this year? You get a beautiful, high quality tree and help a great cause at the same time.
