Has anyone tried out the Too Good To Go app? https://mailings.ed.ac.uk/2YP3-YL1V-4NV8O7-L3LA4-1/c.aspx
Wasted food is responsible for 8% of the global greenhouse gas emissions – it’s not just the food itself that goes to waste, it’s all the resources that went into making it, from water to land and labour. Incredibly, we are told a third of all food produced is wasted.
The Too Good To Go is a food waste fighting app that lets you get your hands on ‘magic bags’ of perfectly edible food that stores and restaurants have to throw out at the end of the day, for a greatly reduced price. It could be sandwiches, pastries, salads or even meals from restaurants. You can set it up for your own location, to see what is available nearby.
Many of the University of Edinburgh’s cafes have been added to this app – including the Drum and Nucleus Cafes at QMRI and IGMM respectively.
If anyone has any experience of using this app, it would be great if you could share it with us – especially any hot tips on the best places to grab a tasty bargain!
