NEWS & EVENTS

  • ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ to Dr Catherine Bromley who successfully defended her PhD thesis ‘Beyond a Boundary – Conceptualising and Measuring Multiple Health Conditions in the Scottish Population’.  Well done Catherine!!!  We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Catherine on her new job at the Public Health Observatory at NHS Health Scotland, and look forward to continuing to work with her in this new capacity.
  • SCPHRP DEVELOPMENT AWARDS. A new funding scheme for our third sector and policy/practice Working Group members is currently accepting applications.  This is part of our ongoing commitment to enhance the capacity of the Scottish public health workforce to contribute to, and utilise research, via appropriate career development opportunities.

Applicants can seek funding for a number of career development activities, including:

Attendance at a relevant conference, including registration, travel and accommodation costs.

* Attendance at a relevant seminar/workshop, including registration, travel and accommodation costs.

* Further education opportunities, including relevant modules/courses.

* Travel to meet with a key figure in a related field, where such a meeting is likely to benefit your work.

  • VACANCY: RESEARCH FELLOW (ADULT LIFE WORKING GROUP) We are currently recruiting for a Research Fellow to join our Adult Life Working Group.  The post-holder will work with the group on a number of innovative collaborative research projects.  Further information can be found here. The deadline for applications is the 18th March.  Please circulate to anyone you think might be interested.

 

  • SCPHRP’S Jane Hartley is collaborating with Vicki Cooke at TRE Scotland and medical professionals in Brazil to design and evaluate a community primary health care initiative in Brasilia using the novel stress-reduction technique Tension Release Exercises (TRE). Read more.

  • LLWG MEMBER ALISON CLYDE from Generations Working Together (GWT) has been successful with her application for Development Grant funding. She’ll be going to the University of Granada (Spain) to visit Professor Mariano Sanchez to explore the potential for collaborative work to develop an English version of an online training course on intergenerational learning developed by Professor Sanchez and others – the European Certificate of Intergenerational Learning. Well done Alison!
