Anteneh Fikrie 

Anteneh Fikrie is Assistant Professor of Public Health in the School of Public Health, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He has received a BSc degree in Public Health from Debre Birehan University (2008-2012), and Masters in Public Health from Hawassa University (2016-2018). He has more than ten years of experience in the area of clinical and academic environment. Currently, has been offering different Public Health courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Likewise, he has been supervising three postgraduate students. His research interest is multidisciplinary research approach using both qualitative and quantitative methods. He has focused on Maternal and child nutrition, Nutrition related Non-communicable diseases, food security, and food and nutrition literacy of women. He has done more than twenty-three researches and published more fourteen original research articles in international peer reviewed reputable journals. He has served as an active and certified peer reviewer at PLOS, BMC, and other journals. He is the delegate person closely to work with SCPHRP team and BHU, IOH.

Miesa Gelchu Halake

Miesa is a Lecturer and Administrative and Business development Director, Institute Of Health Sciences. He has BSc and master degree in Health Education and Hospital administration from Jima University respectively. Currently, he is offering different public health courses for under-graduate students here in Bule Hora University. He is highly interested in multidisciplinary research approach using both qualitative and quantitative methods with focus on Communicable and Non-communicable diseases among pastoral community.

Dr. Birhanu Buta

Dr. Birhanu, is an Assistant Professor of internal Medicine in the School of Medicine, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He had a BSc degree in Medical Doctor from Haramaya University, and Specialty certificate in Internal Medicine from Jimma University. Currently, He has offering Internal medicine and Medical Ethics courses for under and postgraduate students and serving as a clinician in Bule Hora University Teaching Hospital. He do have a passionate interest in multidisciplinary research approach using both qualitative and quantitative methods with focus on infectious diseases such tuberculosis, HIV, Malaria and neglected tropical diseases, and Non-communicable diseases.

Wako Dedecha Boko

Wako Dedecha, is Lecturer of Medical Laboratory Sciences in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He has earned his BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and Pathology from Jimma University, and Masters in Clinical Chemistry from Addis Ababa University. Currently, he has offering different Medical Laboratory courses for under-graduate students here in Bule Hora University. Gemechis, the Vice Academic Director of the Institute and a Lecturer in the School of Public Health Biostatistics and Epidemiology department, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. Alqeer Aliyo

Alqeer is a clinical coordinator at Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He was graduated BSc degree in medical laboratory technology from Hawassa University and MSc in Medical microbiology from Haramaya University. Currently, he has offering microbiology course for undergraduates in our institute and advising postgraduate students on the thesis. His research interest is public health problems particularly in relation to infectious disease affecting the pastoralist communities. Gemedo Misha

Gemedo is a lecturer and clinical pharmacist of Bule Hora University, Health Institute, Pharmacy Department. He has a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and a master’s degree in clinical pharmacy from Jimma University. Currently he has offering pharmacotherapy and related courses for pharmacies and medical students at Bule Hora University. He has passionate interest in the multidisciplinary research strategy that uses qualitative and quantitative methods with a focus on tuberculosis. Conduct research on active case detection and prevention for the elimination of tuberculosis. He has published three original research articles in well-reputed international peer-reviewed journals. Jitu is a lecturer at Bule Hora University, Institute of Health, School of Public Health. Takala Utura

Takala has a wide range of professional and practical experiences in evaluation of public health interventions, conducting training, leading, supervision, report writing, outbreak investigations, epidemiological surveillance and measures, Health systems; Leading communicable disease control process and contributed to the development of strategic plan to prevent, management and control of different infectious and non-infectious diseases. Delivered thought and practical training in different institution and University; trained several public health experts on detection, reporting and management of public health threats. He has served at the university in different positions: he taught undergraduate programs for 3 years, served as continuous education director for 6 month and currently he is a Chief executive Director of Institute of Health for 2 & half years. He has supervised more than 10 undergraduate students in Bule Hora University. He has published 8 articles in reputable international journals. Takala’s equalities are personally motivated, well-organized, clear and logical mind with practical and scientific approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through accomplishment. Angefa Ayele

Angefa is Head, Department of Public Health, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He had earned BSc degree of Nursing from Wallaga University, and Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from Haramaya University. He is the focal person of One health thematic research and offering different Public Health courses for undergraduate students here in Bule Hora University. Fuad Mohammed

Dr. Fuad is an Assistant Professor of Veterinary Public Health in the School of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture, Bule Hora University. He received his DVM degree in Veterinary Medicine from Hawassa University, and Masters in Veterinary Public Health from Haremaya University. Currently, he has offering different Veterinary Medicine courses for DVM Programme and post graduate Animal Science students here in Bule Hora University. He has a passionate interest in multidisciplinary research approach using both qualitative and quantitative methods with focus on Animal – Environment – Human interface areas especially zoonosis, food safety, microbial risk assessment, linking animal nutrition to human nutrition, related communicable diseases, food security, and other FAO/Codex based food safety principle related   researches. He has investigated novel method of Salmonella prevention from farm to fork by using biotechnology as a tool and currently under review for publication. Currently, he has been working on a position of Research and community Service Coordinator @BHU, Collage of Agricultural Sciences.

Lechisa Asefa

Lechisa is a lecturer at Department of Environmental health, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He got his BSc degree in Environmental health from Wollo University, and Masters in Environmental health from Jimma University. Zelalem is an Assistant Professor of maternity and reproductive health nursing in the midwifery department, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He received his Master’s degree in maternity health nursing from Jimma university and a BSc degree in Nursing from Haramaya University, Ethiopia. Currently, he is working at Bule Hora university by providing different courses for both postgraduate and undergraduate students, advising students, doing quantitative research methods, and working as a focal person for the maternal and child health research team. Girma Tufa is a Senior Lecturer of Maternal and Reproductive Health Nursing, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He received his BSc degree in Nursing from Haramaya University and a Masters’s degree in Maternity and Reproductive Health Nursing from Wollega University. Dereje Tolesa Eshete

Dr. Dereje is a Senior specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the school of medicine, Institute of Health at Bule Hora University. He received his specialty degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Hawassa University, and his undergraduate degree in medicine from Arbaminch University, Ethiopia. Currently, he is serving as an Assistant professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bule Hora Teaching hospital University, School of Medicine, Bule Hora, Ethiopia. He provides  Patient Care service at inpatient and outpatient levels by doing minor and major Obstetrics and Gynecology procedures, moderate management sessions, seminars, and Journal clubs, Provide Bedsides and teaching rounds and Prepare Clinical simulations for undergraduate medical students, and master clinical midwifery students. His research interest is in multidisciplinary research work using both qualitative and quantitative methods in the area of Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (SRMNCAH).

Boko Loka

Boko is the Chief Academic Director of the Institute and a Lecturer in Pediatrics and Child Health Nursing in the Nursing department, Institute of Health, Bule Hora University. He received his master’s degree in Pediatrics and Child Health Nursing from the University of Gondar and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing(BSc.N) from Haramaya University, Ethiopia. He also earned a Higher Diploma Program certificate from Bule Hora University, Ethiopia. He has previously worked at Haramaya University as an educator in the college of health and medical sciences, a nursing school (2015–2017). His research interest is in the area of Pediatrics and child health.

Elfneh Bariso

Profile photo of Elfneh Bariso (affiliate member of SCPHRP)Elfneh Bariso is a multidisciplinary researcher and educator who holds the position of Senior Lecturer in Further Education and Skills at Canterbury Christ Church University in the UK, https://www.canterbury.ac.uk/people/elfneh-bariso. His work encompasses various domains, including teaching and research. Elfneh teaches the PGCE in Further Education and Skills at CCCU and serves as an academic link tutor for partner further education colleges. His research interests span topics such as primary and secondary healthcare services accessibility and the synergy between indigenous knowledge systems and scientific knowledge systems. Elfneh also contributes as a reviewer for the International Journal of ICT Research in Africa and the Middle East (IJICTRAME). Beyond academia, he is the director of the development NGO AHEAD Charity, aheadcharity.org. Elfneh actively supports universities in Ethiopia by delivering training on research, teaching and assessment methods, supporting them with their internalisation efforts. Notably, he played a pivotal role in establishing a partnership link between Bule Hora University and the University of Edinburgh. Elfneh’s educational background includes a PhD in ICT in Education, an MA in Teaching English, an MSc in African Studies, a BA in English, a PGCE, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies and a Diploma in Teaching and Supporting Disabled Learners. His commitment to lifelong learning underlines his dedication to personal and professional growth.

Judith Fynn

Judith joined SCPHRP in Jan 2022 to work on the evaluation of the No-One Left Behind employability services in Fife. Judith completed her PhD in Public Health Evaluation at the University of East Anglia. Since then, she has worked within a local authority, at Public Health England, and currently splits her time between SCHRP and the Eastern Academic Health Science Network to support programme evaluation. Her research interests focus on using qualitative and mixed methods for evaluation of public health interventions and exploring ways to build evaluation capacity and research practice partnerships. Prior to moving to a more research focused career, Judith worked as a lecturer in England and Switzerland. She has a Masters degree in Public Health Nutrition, is an Associate Registered Nutritionist and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
