Childhood obesity analysis using the Growing Up in Scotland study

ELWG logoSCPHRP Early Years Working Group is currently involved in analysing the Growing Up in Scotland data in relation to childhood obesity. The study investigates developmental trajectories, by age, gender, socio-economic status, and Scottish region, of childhood overweight or obesity, and its associated co-morbidities. The rationale is that by identifying patterns of overweight or obesity growth trajectories, for example around early childhood among successive birth cohorts, could give an indication of the nature and timing of any environmental influences, and therefore inform more ambitious and effective control efforts that appropriately target that age group.
