My work aligns with the environmental Eco- Art movement by looking into art that addresses environmental issues; from the aesthetics to the ethical. I explore the ‘techno-utopian idea’ of recreating life artificially through bioengineering and new technology, through the photographic series showing the cultivation of seeds from the remaining and endangered flora. For the degree …

These photographs are part of an on-going project that explores the shapes and forms in found in trees and other plants that have fascinated him since childhood. This project was born to give a new perspective on botany in general, but started with trees. I use the branching patterns, roots, bark, leaves, etc. to create …

What worked? The melting of ice upon sugar paper had many unexpected outcomes. The initial unexpectance was that the paper didn’t dissolve in its entirety but became a jelly like substance whilst wet then hardened to its original form when dried out. The melting did manipulate the colours of the print thereby making it more abstract and had …

‘Human-driven and natural loss of trees —deforestation— affects wildlife, ecosystems, weather patterns, and even the climate.’ – National Geographic Deforestation – Decrease Carbon Absorption – Increase in Greenhouse Gasses – Global Warming – Glacial Melting This is a series of photographs taken through out the experiment of ice melting over flora images printed onto sugar paper. The experimental process …
This experimental photographic image was taken of farmed pine trees in the Cairngorm National Park. Anthropogenic deforestation has lead to a huge decrease of native trees with the Scottish landscape. Following the retreat of the ice age, the flora and fauna was flourishing within the Highlands; inhabiting species included Salmon, Elk Wild Boar, Beavers …
Whilst visiting many different gardens and botanical landscapes, I noticed the juxtaposition between the man made structures and the flora formations. Manmade constructions conforming to architectural needs vs Natural structure observe the necessity to photosynthesis. Sep 28, 2020
I am going to use ice and water to manipulate prints. The unknown outcome will represent how a controlled environment, e.g rainforest management, deforestation and agricultural maintenance, has uncontrolled effects and outcomes. The use of ice will relate to glacial melting, hopefully by bleeding the ink from the original print onto watercolour paper, causing an …
