Ideas & Experimentation

I am going to use ice and water to manipulate prints. The unknown outcome will represent how a controlled environment, e.g rainforest management, deforestation and agricultural maintenance, has uncontrolled effects and outcomes. The use of ice will relate to glacial melting, hopefully by bleeding the ink from the original print onto watercolour paper, causing an abstracted form of the original image.

I will conduct a series of different experiments using water, ice, sugar paper and watercolour paper. The 5 different experiments (visualised in sketches below) will attempt to solidify an ink print onto watercolour paper through ice and water; pushing the ink through another chemical state to the settle upon a new surface.

I predict that the sugar in the sugar paper will dissolve in water thereby releasing the ink properties, which will then diffuse through the liquid and settle upon the water colour paper.
