Presenting our Tool/Kits

My initial Tool/Kit presentation was loosely based around the “pocket objects” that I’d been experimenting with over the previous weeks. I showed the group a number of images of keyring-sized objects I had made already, and explained their materials and construction. I also explained the broad ideas behind the work – that the pocket object represents a kind of bridge between art and the utilitarian, and that the object itself is readily customizable, variable and accessible, allowing for many potential iterations or approaches to the work and its presentation. The group’s feedback on my presentation emphasized the the need to find a “hook” or prompt which could be used as a means to initiate a workshop based around these objects.

Keyring object installed on keyring (in this case the object functions as a space for a personal reminder or some other important information to be displayed).
