The three online launch events to mark the publication of the Manifesto for Teaching Online book (MIT Press, 2020) took place in September and October 2020, and recordings of these are available to watch now.
Seminar 1 – Recoding. Whose interests do automation, algorithms and datafication serve? Manifesto authors Dr Jen Ross, Dr Jeremy Knox and Dr Pete Evans were joined by Professor Neil Selwyn from Monash University. (16 September 2020)
Seminar 2 – We are the campus. Challenging the idea that online teaching is ‘second best’, and arguing that the distancing in ‘distance learning’ is more complex than we might think, Manifesto authors Professor Sian Bayne, Dr Phil Sheail and Dr Rory Ewins were joined by Professor Rebecca Eynon from Oxford University. (7 October 2020)
Seminar 3 – Text has been troubled. Arguing that authorship isn’t what it used to be – how we assess students and understand plagiarism needs to shift. Manifesto authors Dr James Lamb, Dr Hamish Macleod and Dr Christine Sinclair are joined by Dr Amy Collier, Associate Provost for Digital Learning, Middlebury College.
