Weekly Changes – 24/02/2025

A fairly quiet week with just a selection of smaller changes, the support for Ubuntu Noble has now stabilised nicely. Here are the details of all the notable changes…

PostgreSQL

There are security updates for PostgreSQL 14.16, 15.11, 16.7 and 17.3. See this news article for full details of the changes.

KVM Server

The standard list of packages for a KVM now includes dnsmasq-base, which provides a small caching DNS proxy and DHCP/TFTP server, and OVMF which supports booting EFI images.

There is also a new LCFG_OPTIONS_SWTPM option for those sites which need a TPM emulator so they can run Windows VMs.

flexlm

The LCFG flexlm component was broken due to a missing logdir resource, it now exists and defaults to /var/log/flexlm.

Dell System Updater

The ed/options/dsu.h header now supports Debian Bookworm.

Software

There is a new LCFG_OPTIONS_PYTHON_PIPX option for the pipx tool which supports installing and running Python applications in isolated environments. This is included as part of the standard Python environment on DICE systems.

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
