Weekly Changes – 26/08/2024

A fairly quiet week but those sites running their own LCFG server will want to pay attention to the update. Here are the details of all the notable changes…

LCFG Server

The LCFG server has been updated on Ubuntu. This changes the serialisation of the status information for nodes gathered from the profile and the acknowledgements from the LCFG client. The details files will now be stored as JSON which allows easier access from external code.

PostgreSQL

There are security updates for PostgreSQL 14, 15 and 16. See the announcement for full details.

trac

There is now support for running the trac open-source issue tracking software on Ubuntu.

Accessing LUKS encrypted devices

The libblockdev-crypto2 is now installed as standard for desktops running Ubuntu Jammy. This allows access to LUKS encrypted devices, for example, USB sticks. This matches with the functionality already available for Focal.

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
