Weekly Changes – 13/04/2021

This week’s release removes the last vestiges of support for SL7.6 and earlier, and adds the beginnings of future support for SL7.9. Read on for more detail…

SL7.6 and earlier

All traces of the former support for SL7.6, and even a few leftover traces of SL6, have now been removed.

SL7.9

We have added the beginnings of LCFG support for SL7.9. You’re welcome to try this out but as yet SL7.9 is not officially supported.

Ubuntu kernel

The INF kernel for Ubuntu has been updated to 5.4.0-70.78.

samba server

The LCFG samba component defaults and code are upgraded to 1.2.0. See bug#1275 for full details.

systemd

The systemd component has a small update to 0.11.1.

bash completion on Ubuntu

dice-bash-completion on Ubuntu is upgraded to 2.0.0. It now uses /usr/share rather than /etc.

Options headers removed

The play.h and buildhosts.h options headers have been removed.

NFS configuration

The DICE level nfsconfig header is now included, but it doesn’t yet do anything. For more details see last week’s post.

Ubuntu web cache

We now have a web proxy service – http://wwwcache.inf.ed.ac.uk:3128 – which can be used for Ubuntu installs and for dsu firmware upgrades on non-routed wires. For testing it’s enabled on all DICE Ubuntu machines using the develop release.
