Careers Month

Careers Month 2026 is here!

The IAD Careers Team have a series of events planned over the course of the month and this blog entry aims to give you insight into what’s coming up.

During the first week of June we are diving into the topic of Employment Sectors. In this briefing session participants will explore different tools, resources and strategies for practical job hunting in order to build commercial awareness and uncover job opportunities.

The very next day, Wednesday 3rd June, the IAD Career Consultants will be holding “Quick Queries”, short 20minute, in person consultations, perfect if you have an urgent query or career idea that you would like to discuss. This is your opportunity to get started and make progress.

In the second week of June we are hosting an online panel session “Meet People Working in Policy”. If you are considering a role within the policy sector then this is a must attend event! In this one hour session you will hear about the panels career trajectories and have the chance to ask questions during the Q&A that closes the event.

In the third week the annual PhD Horizons conference takes place on the 17th June. If you are considering roles beyond academia this event will help you to research other sectors. Despite the title of this event research staff are encouraged to attend. In the same week Darcy and Eleanor will deliver a workshop on “Making a Career Pivot”. In this session we will explore how to identify when it might be time to consider a career pivot, plan your pivot and navigate the challenges along the way.

Finally, in the last week of June Eleanor will deliver a briefing session on Networking. The session will consider key strategies to implement in your networking practice. Participants will have chance to map their own individual networks and engage in a short Q&A. For further details and booking for the above session see the dedicated webpage.
