First steps in data and computational research

Start your journey in digital research with a quick 30-minute webinar, taking place throughout Semester 1. This session outlines the key phases of the research lifecycle, along with the associated services, tools, and resources available to help you get started. Best research planning practices

Join the “Spotlight on: Research Planning” webinar series from October 30th to November 20th, focusing on best practices in digital, data, and computational research. This series offers advice on research websites, managing copyright issues, and guidance on research data management and common pitfalls in computing. Each 30-minute webinar covers a different topic, featuring a short presentation followed by a mini-Q&A session. Proper research planning, effective use of available resources, and adherence to best practices can help you avoid potential problems in the future. Inspiring Research Computing excellence

Learn everything you need to know about High-Performance Computing (HPC) at the University of Edinburgh through our new “HPC In Focus” event series. These online, in-person, and hands-on sessions provide opportunities to understand the research computing landscape, hear from experts presenting their projects, join relevant communities, and learn how to use supercomputers effectively. Save the Date: Digital Research Conference 2025 

The inaugural Digital Research Conference at the University of Edinburgh will be held on January 29th, 2025, at the John McIntyre Conference Centre. This conference aims to bring together researchers and professional staff supporting digital, data-intensive, and computational research. It will promote best practices, inspire collaborations, and stimulate discussion across schools, colleges, and professional services on a broad range of digital research-related topics.
