Sugo cave, limestone cave
This trip helped me to write my dissertation.
It was a great trip! The area visited was located in Romania, in Harghita. It was a large-scale igneous intrusion into the Tulghes, Rebra-Negrisoara metamorphic unit. I was interested in the area due to not being able to afford mapping in the UK. I was also interested in the complex geology of the metamorphic and the complex minerology of the igneous intrusion.
My main finds are a map generated of the area which shows a complex igneous intrusion made of nepheline-white syenite and red syenite, intruded into 3 distinct metamorphic layers, which were originally deep-sea sediments. The area underwent several complex subduction-based deformation processes. The igneous intrusion despite being nepheline syenite had granitic elements to, showcasing the absorption of the schist layers into the igneous intrusion.
I visited several surrounding areas to gain a better understanding of the regional geology.

Romanian views
I undertook 4 weeks of mapping in Harghita, Romania and wrote a 10,000 word thesis based on the results.
