Preparation

Use these links to help prepare your application.

  • Vault – we subscribe to this, to let you see rankings and insights for top financial companies in the US, UK, and worldwide. See what employees have said about a bank – this could help you identify what makes it stand out amongst its competitors – often a tough question to tackle. Find Vault in the Careers Resources channel in MyEd.
  • Online tests – there’s no excuse for not practising these and we’re offering you lots to try out. Numerical, verbal, logical and more – find them in the Resources tab in MyCareerHub.
  • What’s the work like? Read first-person accounts on The Gateway Online or for a good introduction see the profile of the corporate investment banker role here.
  • Want to go into more detail? The Investment Banking Handbook in the City Career Series offers a solid grounding in the concepts, terminology and practices. It’s not available online but we’ve a reference copy and a loan copy available.
  • Best of all, come and meet the recruiters. Check our online listing of employer presentations and Fairs on MyCareerHub. Do this soon, and often, as the listing is updated frequently. You’ll learn about organisations from the inside, hear tips from their recruitment teams and get the chance to make a good impression.

Now it’s up to you!
