Study in the USA featuring the Statue of Liberty

Thinking of doing postgrad study in USA? – register for tests now!

Thanks to Susan Bird, Careers Consultant, for highlighting the support available if you’re considering postgrad study in the USA.

The Careers Service webpage, Find out about Further study is a good starting point; it contains a dedicated section on “Further study overseas”.

This webpage also highlights two external platforms, Prospects and FindAMasters, both of which have helpful resources:

Prospects – Study in the USA

FindAMasters – Applying for a Masters in the USA

However, the main source of support and advice (and also linked to from our webpage) is the Fulbright Commission who partner with EducationUSA to offer programmes, events and advice for UK students interested in studying at accredited higher education institutions in the USA.

This is where you can access advice and information about the entrance tests (GMAT/GE) and test preparation:

Advice from Fulbright Commission

  • You do need to register for tests very early, almost 18 months before course enrolment.
  • This means applying in Spring the year before you are due to start a postgraduate programme i.e. now! – for next year’s study start date.
  • Fulbright have advisers who can offer advice on the tests and there are good case studies and alumni stories too.
  • Start doing your research now so you don’t miss any crucial deadlines!
