The well documented skills shortage facing ICT and digital technologies sector in the UK raises industry wide challenges. However, it also presents graduates and those thinking of a career in the sector with significant opportunities.
An interesting article I read earlier this week looks at the topic across sector wide skills issues, and the graduate and non-graduate labour markets. It also makes reference to the Edinburgh technology start-up scene, which was also well covered in a Herald story a few weeks ago.
If this has made you think or want to learn more, you’ll be interested to know of our ‘Careers in IT’ fair on Wednesday 4th February at the Informatics Forum from 1pm. It’s open to all students and gives you the chance to learn of the variety of opportunities in the sector. With over 40 companies looking to recruit Edinburgh students, graduates, postgraduate taught and research students for graduate roles, internships and placements, it sounds like a fantastic event.
