Henrietta Cameron, Internships Adviser, gives a great insight into what you can expect this summer with an Employ.ed on Campus internship.
Like most of Scotland, University staff that can work from home have been since March last year. This includes the summer Employ.ed on Campus interns. It is hard to predict what the guidelines will be this summer, but it is likely that interns will be working remotely again.
For some people this is a perk of the pandemic, although for others it is a little daunting to think about starting a new job when you haven’t met anyone in person. We wanted to share the experience of last year’s interns to give you a flavour of what you can expect this summer if you get an Employ.ed on Campus internship:

“This internship has prepared me for the remote working world. I have a good understanding of MS Outlook and teams which are essential in most virtual offices. The Careers Service will support all interns through an Edinburgh Award alongside their internship, and this support will also be held online.
How to apply
- Internships are advertised on the University’s student jobs portal. Most internships will be advertised from the 8th February – 7th March. Please note some internships may be advertised outside these dates.
- You need to upload a CV and Covering Letter for each internship you want to apply to. We recommend you apply to no more than three.
- Interviews will be held in March and April with the host departments, and most internships will start on the 31st May.
