Keeping Active – Indoors

Keeping Active – Indoors

Hello!

With the wet and wild weather we’ve been having .. AND the random surge of sunshine – the sofa and a cuppa seems waaay more appealing than chucking on the waterproofs to get outside and active . BUT – what if you could still get your mental and physical health fix from the comfort of your own living room, hallway, bedroom, garden … you get the idea!? Your space.

Sunshine, Dopamine, and Sprinting | SimpliFaster

Whether you are working from home just now or are still on site – we are most likely spending a chunk of our days sitting down. Missing out on catch ups with colleagues, lunchtime walks or to the kitchen to pop on the kettle –  this is when body stiffness can creep up.  On the mental health side too- we aren’t getting that social boost from getting a quick chat in with our colleagues. Keeping in check with our own mental health just now is so important – when we care so much about our loved ones – you need to also remember to find a bit of time for you 🙂

SO – how can we combat this indoors?

By putting aside some time for yourself you can get mobile and get a great mental health reset. Welcome to the wonderful world of YOGA. (For those of your who haven’t tried Yoga – don’t run away just yet!) All you need is a bit of space – like the size of a large towel – you don’t have to own a yoga mat. Grab a towel or blanket. Whatever works for you! 🙂

There are so many yoga videos out there and I know it can be a slog trying to find the right one. So I have picked a few from Yoga with Adriene’s Youtube to get your started.

Whatever the time constraints of your day – these yoga videos range from 5 minutes to 1 hour plus – and everything inbetween. So it’s really accessible for making time for yourself.

Let’s get started.

A fitting one to start you off!

Office Break Yoga

Morning Yoga – a great 5 minutes to start your morning off well – and an 11 minute video too for waking up 🙂 There is a bedtime video too you can check out on Adriene’s Yoga channel on Youtube.

Neck & back stiffness or pain?

Yoga for lower back pain, Sciatica and injury prevention

Yoga for the spine – this is a goody! A bit longer – but well worth it.

Keep that mind healthy too with Yoga for Anxiety and Stress below 🙂

There are so many available on Yoga with Adriene’s Youtube channel – there is a yoga video for just about everything – so if these videos aren’t for you – take a minute and find something that suits 🙂 You do not need to be super flexible and have lavander scented candles on – adapt the yoga and find YOUR space.

If Yoga isn’t for you – fair enough! But remember to take a bit of time for YOU –  to breathe, do something that brings you joy and stay safe mentally and physically.

I hope you find the time to watch some of these videos and I would love to hear about your experience if you go for it / any new videos you recommend.

Til next time,

Ana

Thanks Ana. I love yoga and have been missing it. Once I can get my TV properly linked to my internet (dodgy signal with it being so far from my modem), I will definitely try some of these.
