We are planning on a weekend walk on Saturday 12 October 2019. We are planning to set off from Elie (meet at Ruby Bay car park at 10 am) and head along the Fife Coastal Path. As we will be passing through various pretty villages along the way, you could choose the length of walk you want, as there are regular buses back to Elie from all the villages (and plenty of coffee shops to fill in the time until your bus arrives!). The approximate distances from Elie are as follows:
St Monans – 3 miles
Anstruther – 6.5 miles
Crail – 11 miles
The scenery on this stretch of coastline is beautiful, as are the villages you pass through. The route crosses a combination of well-trodden paths, beaches and grazing pasture. It can be rough underfoot in areas with some narrower paths and stone steps, so you will need sturdy footwear. We will stop for breaks along the way, and there are plenty of interesting and historical sites to see nearby. For more information on the Fife Coastal Path, see www.fifecoastalpath.co.uk.
If you would like to join us, could you please email Marie Leslie (marie.leslie@ed.ac.uk) and Joanne Douglas (joanne.douglas@ed.ac.uk). Please also let us know whether you would need/could offer transport, so that we can minimise the number of cars going. It takes around an hour and a quarter to reach Elie from WGH.
