Staff Pride Network

The Staff Pride Network is an inclusive network that serves as a resource for the rich diversity of LGBT+ employees across the institution, including PhD students who prefer to attend staff events. We strive to take an intersectional approach to providing a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for all people who self identify as part of LGBT+ communities, whether or not they are 'out' in the wider world, and to make LGBT+ issues more visible within the University environment. Different organisations use different acronyms to refer to specific groups, and terminology is always evolving. Our definition of LGBT+ includes, among others, those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, gender fluid, intersex, non-binary, asexual, pansexual and polyamorous. It also includes all those individuals and communities whose sexuality or gender identity is a matter of shared personal, political and/or social experience, as well as those who are LGBT+ allies.

June is here and it’s time to celebrate! Here’s a roundup of Pride 2026 events in and around Edinburgh, including Glasgow’s main Pride and other Scottish prides. Please let us know if we’ve missed anything that you’d like us to share with the network!

  • 13 – 28 June:Β LEAP Sports Scotland’s Annual Festival of Sport – 2 weeks of sporting, recreational and cultural events and activities across Scotland, aimed at increasing the visibility and participation of LGBTIQ+ people in Scottish sport.
    • ‘Come and try’ sessions available in Archery, OutFit, Self-defence, Disco Line Dance, Open Bounce, Baseball, Trail Running, Tango, Rugby Union, Swordfighting, European Martial Arts, Pickleball, Paddleboarding, Fencing, Quadball, Capoeira, Football, Park Run, Tennis, Rowing, Padel, Squash and Climbing
    • Lots of hikes, runs, family fun days and tournaments to choose from as well.
  • 20 and 27 June, 4pm and 6pm: Pride History Tours at The Real Mary King’s Close

Major Pride Marches

  • Saturday 20 June – Pride Edinburgh – Scotland’s longest-running celebration of diversity. March assembles at Scottish Parliament 12:15pm, sets off 1pm. Main Stage at Bristo Square with Cher Lloyd headlining.
  • Saturday 18 July – Glasgow’s Pride – Scotland’s largest Pride. Parade gathers at Glasgow Green at noon, heads to George Square for 1pm. Two-day Pride Hub at Strathclyde Student Union.
