The issue of access to scholarly literature is key to the development of evidence and evidence based practice for nursing and healthcare. Within low and middle income countries this access is impeded by a number of infrastructural and individual factors evident in the findings of the review. The findings of the review are important in raising this issue as nursing moves forward in pursuit of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, and should be used to generate further research and actions aimed at increasing access to scholarly resources.
