Week 8

Calculating the Illuminance and Lux

 

This week we were asked to calculate the illuminance of the Chapel of Saint Albert. To do this, we were given an area of 162 square metres and were told to base these calculations on this and as if 8 luminaires were used.

We looked at three different luminaires to calculate how much the illuminance and lux level would be for each one if used within the space.

 

 

Practice Calculation of my Project 

 

After this, we did an example for our own project. I did a small area within the Tron for my toilets if I was to use downlight of 524lm- this can be seen below.

The image below is the downlight used in the calculation above and is also one of the luminaires I will use in my own project moving forward.
