Routes Through Practice

In this session we each attempted to map and then articulate a “practice” that we regularly engage in, by working through the steps given here.

I chose to focus on the practice of mapping, as it is something that I engage in on a daily basis and it is the primary way in which I work through ideas. I often use mapping in a way which is reminiscent of conventional mind-mapping, though here I use the term more broadly to describe my overall approach to making, editing, re-writing and adapting my notes on a given subject.

I am unsure at this stage if the practice of mapping is suitable for codification and workshopping as part of my contribution to the open learning fair later this month, as it not a particularly fun or engaging activity in this basic form. I am also still interested in the prospect of using my “pocket object” work as a basis for a workshop, though this idea still needs some development.
