Nursing Studies’ graduate speaks on her love of nursing
Nursing Matters: New frontiers for the caring profession
A recent article featured one of our graduates share her thoughts on what makes a career as a nurse so special.
The article ‘Why I love my nursing job: a personal look at the profession’ featured seven nurses who work in different sectors, one of these was Claire Goodman.
Claire Goodman is Professor of healthcare research, Centre for Research in Primary and Community Care, University of Hertfordshire and was a Nursing Studies’ graduate from the University of Edinburgh.
Claire Goodman
Goodman has a background in district nursing. She is currently leading a range of studies at the University of Hertfordshire.
“Nursing has given me so many choices, but it has also allowed me to have an impact on people who are at the highest level of need. I am particularly interested in older people and I am researching what makes a dementia-friendly nursing home as well as looking at improving end-of-life care for people with dementia.”
You may have heard Claire give the Eleventh Elsie Stephenson Memorial Lecture on March 20th 2014: “Avoiding Black Holes: Nursing and the Care of Older People and their Carers Living at Home”
