今年は、私たちは休暇中だったので、大学の学園祭に参加しませんでした。しかし、今年の祭りはとても面白かったと聞きました。彼らはたくさんの食べ物を準備し、日本の面白い文化を楽しんで共有しました。これに先立ち、我々は日本人学生に短いインタビューを行ない、彼らの多くがこのイベントを楽しみにしていることを知った。それは毎年一度行われ、日本の大学生活において最も重要な行事のひとつです。
学園祭の活動は多様でとても面白いです。学生たちは焼きそばやたこ焼きなど、多くの日本料理を提供します。また、中国からのりんごあめなど、国際学生によって様々な国の美味しいものもあります。大学のソサエティがパフォーマンスを企画する。例えば、ダンスクラブがダンスを披露する。学園祭では多くの人が友達を作ります。彼らは同じ趣味を持つ人々をたくさん見つけることができます。
今年は学生運動と学生自治について研究した。インタビューのために準備して、色々な勉強になった。例えば、学園祭の伝統的さは１９６０年代から始まったと言われている。歴史によると、学生運動は同じ時代に東京の大学にたくさんあった。
しかし、インタビューをして、新しいことを勉強した。実は、現在の学園祭では政治的なところがあまりないそうだ。学生運動もあまりないと言われた。一方で、学生たちは自分で学園祭を作るそうだ。例えば、活動をして、お金を自分たちで集めている。学生たちは仲良くして、一緒に学園祭のために準備する。
This year, we didn’t attend the school festival because we were on holiday. However, we learnt that this year’s festival on campus was very interesting. They prepared a lot of food and had a great time sharing the interesting culture of Japan. We had a brief interview with Japanese students before so we learnt from the Japanese students that most of them are looking forward to this event. It is usually held once a year and It is one of the most important activities in the life of a Japanese university.
The activities in Gakuensai are diverse and very interesting. Students will provide many Japanese foods such as theYakisoba and takoyaki. There will also be delicacies from various countries organized by international students、 such as tanghulu from China. In some universities, they have club performances. Students in the dance club will rehearse dances in advance and perform on the day. Many people will make friend in the Gakuensai. They can find a lot of people who have the same hobby as them.
The theme of our research this year was about student activism and student autonomy in Japan. In preparation for the interview, we have found a lot of interesting things. For instance, the tradition of the Gakuensai festival dates back to the 1960s. Whereas, according to history, a great number of student movements came to be in Tokyo universities around the same time.
However, from the interview, we have found that Japanese universities do not seem to have the same level of student autonomy and student movement as they used to in the past. Interestingly, although there are no commonly understood student movements or student unions, the Japanese students show a great deal of independence. For instance, many students fund and create Gakuensai activities and stalls by themselves.
