Weekly Changes – 16/02/2026
Most noticeably this week, the Informatics package repository key gets it annual update. There are a few other notable changes, here are the details…
Package Repository Keys
The Informatics package repository signing key will expire on 21st March. The keyring file which is provided for all clients in the various lcfg-release packages has been updated. Once that is in place, we will update the Informatics package server to use it for repository signing. The fingerprint for the new signing key is 8906A5540B5F2F27F25146C49276193149E2EF50
The Google Chrome key provided in the aptly-keyrings package has been updated to the latest version.
Linux kernel
On Noble the INF_TEST kernel has been updated to 6.8.0-100
NTP
A bug in the reading/updating of the clock sources has been fixed in the LCFG ntp component. This doesn’t affect most sites as the ntp component is only used for managing an ntp daemon, clients use timesyncd.
Dell System Update
The dsu package has been updated to version 2.2.0.0, this provides support for 17th generation Dell servers (e.g. PowerEdge R570 and R670).
Munge
We have temporarily provided a patched version of the Munge package to fix a high severity issue – CVE-2026-25506. Once this has been shipped by Ubuntu the locally built version will be removed.
Changes to headers and package lists
Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists. Note that the location of the diffs has changed, links to the old location will be rewritten.
