Weekly Changes – 08/12/2025

The release this week is another step closer to ending all support for SL7. Here are all the notable changes…

openafs

Version 1.8.14 of openafs is now being tested on all Informatics Noble machines following the develop release. We hope to have the packages working on Jammy as well this week. The intention is to upgrade to the new version at the beginning of next year along with the next kernel update.

GDM

There is a small PAM fix for GDM on Noble.

updaterpms

There has been no support for the SL7 platform for 18 months so we have now disabled the daily running of updaterpms by default. This should help protect those remaining machines from any unintended package removals related to header changes for newer platforms.

OpenNebula

Work continues on the new shared configuration headers for OpenNebula.

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
