Weekly Changes – 12/08/2025

Another quiet week for most sites, here are the details of the few notable changes…

Kernel

The INF_TEST kernel series for updated to 5.15.0-151 for Ubuntu Jammy and to 6.8.0-71 for Ubuntu Noble version.

openafs

On Ubuntu Noble openafs has been updated to 1.8.13.2, this adds support for newer kernels (but not yet the HWE 6.14 series).

Dell system update

The Dell system update (dsu) software has been updated to version 2.1.2.0

ntp daemon

Work is ongoing to overhaul the LCFG ntp component and add support for Ubuntu Noble. The daemon will now be controlled using Systemd rather than the process being directly started and stopped from the LCFG component. There is a new schema which has been significantly simplified to remove old unsupported features. Support for running in a non-daemon mode has also been dropped, on most systems it is sufficient to just use systemd-timesyncd instead.

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
