Weekly Changes – 07/10/2024

Mostly a quiet week other than a major update to the netplan software on Ubuntu Jammy, here are the details of all the notable changes…

netplan

The latest version of the netplan.io package (0.107.1) for Ubuntu Jammy has two new dependencies – netplan-generator and python3-netplan (which in turn pulls in python3-cffi-backend). See the release notes for details of all the fixes and new features which have been added since version 0.104.

openvpn

There is a small bug fix for the openvpn component and the Diffie-Hellman key size has been increased to 2048 bits.

cups browsed

In Informatics, we have never run the cups-browsed service on Ubuntu so the DICE-specific cron job which regularly attempts to restart it has been restricted to SL7.

Software

There are a couple of new software package options for Ubuntu:

  • LCFG_OPTIONS_OKULAR – universal document viewer (KDE-based)
  • LCFG_OPTIONS_LILYPOND – program for typesetting sheet music

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
