Weekly Changes – 13/03/2023

Nearly all the changes for this week are related to the ongoing work on the Ubuntu Jammy platform. Here are the details for the other changes…

Ubuntu Jammy

Details of recent progress on the Ubuntu Jammy platform are now recorded separately, see the latest report.

fstab component

The version of the FAI setup-storage tool, used by the LCFG fstab component, has been updated to the much newer 6.0. This brings the possibility of selectively mounting individual partitions by UUID, we will investigate adding support to the component for that new feature. See the changelog for full details.

openafs

The openafs client and server headers include the new LCFG_OPTIONS_HEIMDAL package option to ensure that the Heimdal libraries are always available. This is necessary on Ubuntu Jammy where the packages are not part of the base environment.

Various DICE AFS helper software packages have been rebuilt. This is solely to add support for Ubuntu Jammy, there are no functional changes.

Software

There are some new software options available for Ubuntu:

  • LCFG_OPTIONS_LIBTIFF_DEV – development packages for libtiff
  • LCFG_OPTIONS_HEIMDAL – Heimdal libraries, these are included by default on Focal but not Jammy
