Ubuntu installbase profiles
As discussed at the monthly meeting yesterday I have introduced some new installbase profiles for Ubuntu machines that use UEFI (this does not affect SL7 at all). We are not using them with the current Ubuntu installer but they will be required by the new installer when it goes live. For simplicity, I’d like to have both installers use the same profiles.
I’m aware that many sites use local versions of these profiles (for example, we have a selection of diceinstallbase-*
profiles in Informatics). Before I make this change all those sites will need to create their own additional efi installbase profiles.
The only required difference is that instead of including lcfg/options/installbase.h
(or ed/options/installbase.h
) the new profiles need to include the equivalent installbase-efi.h
header.
The profiles are usually named similarly to diceinstallbase-efi-ubu2004
, where dice
is replaced with your local site codename, (potentially with a release-related suffix e.g. -stable
, -develop
). However yours are named, you need to add the -efi
prefix after the installbase
part of the string.
I am planning to make the change by the end of November. After that installs for UEFI hosts will fail if the new profiles are not available.
