Weekly Changes – 05/09/2022

A quiet week with just a few security updates for most sites. Here are the full details…

su on DICE

The PAM configuration for the su command on Ubuntu DICE has been fixed so that it can be used by the root user to become another user.

PXE Service

The new support for PXE booting using grub has now been completed and tested. The latest version of the LCFG pxeserver component creates a top-level grub configuration file which will load the specific config for the MAC address of the client (named in a similar way to those used by pxelinux). There is also now support for loading the kernel and initrd files via HTTP when using grub.

Packages

There are two new package options for Ubuntu:

  • LCFG_OPTIONS_SQLITE – SQLite database packages
  • LCFG_OPTIONS_DBUS_X11 – dbus-x11 packages

Changes to headers and package lists

Members of the Informatics Computing team can browse all the changes to the headers and package lists.
