This year’s Gakuen-sai was in my opinion a lot harder to organise than last year’s. Not only was most of the responsibility on us as the second years, but it was also in-person instead of online unlike last years due to covid-19.

今年の学園祭は、去年よりもずっと大変だったように思います。2年目の私たちにほとんどの責任があるだけでなく、covid-19の影響で昨年と違ってオンラインではなく対面式でした。

There were a lot more physical responsibilities such as organising a theme for the decorations and making sure we made back the money we lost on supplies. It was especially hard for our group since we decided to do a ‘baked goods’ stall which required a lot of pre-planning, baking, and keeping track of ingredients – in case customers had dietary restrictions or any severe allergies.

装飾のテーマを決めたり、消耗品で失ったお金を取り返すなど、物理的な責任も増えました。特に私たちのグループは「焼き菓子」の出店を決めたので、食事制限や重度のアレルギーを持つお客様のために、事前の準備や焼き上げ、材料の管理など、大変な思いをしました。

However, I think that overall, it was definitely a much more enjoyable Gakuen-sai experience than last year. Just being in a room with my fellow classmates and talking to customers physically was incredibly gratifying. We also ended up breaking even with the money we earned from selling our baked goods!

しかし、全体としては、昨年よりもずっと楽しい学園祭になったことは間違いないと思います。クラスメートと一緒に部屋にいて、物理的にお客さんと話すだけで、信じられないほど満足しました。また、自分たちが作ったパンを売って得たお金で、収支を合わせることができました。
