META Ad Library now archiving Influencer paid posts
The entire online advertising market has been shifting towards the use of online’ influencers’ as a way of targeting their audiences. Government and public sector influence also uses this technique. In the UK the Advertising Standards Authority has been clamping down on this sort of advertising being done without a notice is is a paid promotion.. From 17 August 2023. Meta has started to include posts with a “paid partnership label” under the rubric of “Branded Content”. You can find them on the public Ad Library pages. This is not broken down by country, but listed globally.
Those who place and produce this content can see reach, impressions, comments, Age and Gender breakdowns, and various sorts of engagement (Meta Help), but the public will only be able see a list of the ‘creator’ and ‘brand partner,. with links to the ad, and the pages of the participants.
For example, the first example from Nike.
We await to to see what extra information about promoted content on social issues, elections or politics, credit, employment or housing is included in the researcher database.
Since has just been launched , there is currently little content, and it will take time to find out what appears in our categories of interests.
