Generation Scotland is a volunteer led study. It aims to create more effective treatments, based on gene knowledge for the medical, social and economic benefit of Scotland and its people.

Welcome to the Generation Scotland Blog!

We’ve created this blog so you can get to know more about our team, our research and the volunteers involved. First, we want to introduce you to our team members. They are working hard to ensure the Generation Scotland studies run as smoothly as possible.

David Porteous

David leads Generation Scotland. His role is to raise the money to run the study and to guide and support the team. He also keep funders, the scientific community and volunteers up to date on our research.

 

Chloe Fawns-Ritchie

Chloe is the Generation Scotland volunteer data collection officer. She created the recent CovidLife and TeenCovidLife surveys. She works with other health researchers to decide what we want to include in our surveys.

 

Rebecca Dawson

Rebecca is the Generation Scotland recruitment co-ordinator. She works to engage volunteers with Generation Scotland research and share our findings. Rebecca enjoys working with volunteers to find out the health questions that matter to them.

 

Cliff Nangle

Cliff is the Generation Scotland data analyst. He gets the data ready for researchers to use in their work. Cliff likes spending time outdoors, cycling and camping, but is getting used to staying indoors during COVID-19 lockdown.

 

Louise Hartley

Louise is the Research Support Officer. She supports the team with the day to day running of Generation Scotland. She is also our key ethics contact and deals with all of our finance.

 

Robin Flaig

Robin is the Generation Scotland Operations Manager. She joined the team in November 2019. Robin is responsible for making sure all the different projects the team is working on are going smoothly.

 

Archie Campbell

Archie is the Chief Technical Officer. He’s worked for Generation Scotland since 2007. Archie is responsible for looking after all the data, and making it available to approved researchers.

 

Rachel Edwards

Rachel works in Administration and Communication for Generation Scotland. She created the Generation Scotland website. She also looks after the social media accounts and enjoys responding to volunteers.

 

Ali Forbes

Ali Forbes is the Recruitment Coordinator. She works on our RuralLife survey engaging with rural communities and volunteers across Scotland as part of our research. She comes from an arts background and also works in community food provision as a result of COVID19 in her other work.

 

Drew Altschul

Drew works with Generation Scotland and the Wellcome Trust. He develops and aligns questionnaires across different projects. Drew is also a statistical analyst and organises the data in research studies from the questionnaires

 

Stephanie Sinclair

Steph works on the TeenCovidLife survey, helping to ensure as many young people as possible take part. She is volunteering with the team during the COVID-19 pandemic and is proud to help young people have their say about how they are coping during lockdown.
