New University head for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

In his summer update newsletter to staff, Professor Peter Mathieson, Principal of the University, has announced that Professor Sarah Cunningham-Burley will be taking up a new role of University-wide lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, an Executive-level position in which she will champion these issues in every aspect of the University’s work.

Professor Cunningham-Burley is currently the University’s Professor of Medical and Family Sociology /and Dean of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences.

She will report directly into the Principal’s senior team via University Secretary, Sarah Smith (for staff issues) and Vice Principal Students, Professor Colm Harmon (for student issues).

The Principal said, “I am sure you will support her in the University-wide planning and delivery of equitable and inclusive policies to support, celebrate and nurture all members of our diverse University community.”
