Training


 

A range of versatile training, support and advice opportunities in the use of technology is available to staff at the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. The Digital Education Unit can provide online workshops and drop in sessions on the effective use of technology to enhance teaching, learning and assessment.

Workshops 

Information Services (IS) provide a range of training courses via Digital Skills programme and runs regular workshops (bookable via MyEd) on various technologies that can be used in innovative learning and teaching including: Learn, Media Hopper Create, Media Hopper Reply, Collaborate, Turnitin, Top Hat and Wikis.

Online Resources  

There is also a number of ‘User guides’ available on the Information Services pages and ‘instructional videos’ hosted on Media Hopper Create, that provide step-by-step instructions on how to use various systems.

Help and Guidance 

We’re happy to offer you help and guidance related to any of the above, whether it is getting to grips with a particular functionality of a particular system or advice on how to embed various learning technologies in the curriculum of your on-campus or online programme.

Bespoke Training and support  

If you are already familiar with a particular system and would like to use additional features to further enhance your course, we are happy to provide support and deliver bespoke training based on your requirements.

Training can be delivered through workshops, online and one-to-one sessions. We would appreciate at least two weeks’ notice for planning and scheduling purposes.

We may be able to provide additional support for project-related work where resources permit. Contact us to discuss.

  • Learn Foundations Template in conjunction with the UoE Leaning Foundations Team

  • Author and upload of content to LEARN
  • Communicate with students
  • Setup and manage assessment activity
  • Including the formulation of assessment questions, development of rubrics or any other marking criteria, assessment deadlines, and delivery of feedback and marks to students.
  • Transfer marks into student records
  • Manage membership of course spaces (non-EUCLID courses)
  • Use Media Hopper to embed videos into your course
  • Comply with relevant legislation on accessibility, copyright and security
  • or direct you to specialised teams in these areas.
  • Incorporate ePortfolios, blogging and other reflective practices into the curriculum
  • Use TopHat or Collaborate to facilitate student engagement and interaction
  • Create a flipped classroom, build peer assessment, facilitate reflective practice and implement other digital pedagogies into your course.
